In which I realize that I am condescending towards customer support personnel

Here’s my exact email to Globe regarding my Smart Dialing:

Hi. I’m on a Blackberry and I want to set up Smart Dialing. I believe I am doing it right but I want to know if Globe is placing some kind of imposition upon it so it doesnt work and instead, Globe’s mobile access numbers are being put instead of the ones I set on my phne.

In case you did not know, here is the description and instruction from the Blackberry user guide:
About smart dialing
You can change smart-dialing options to specify a default country code and area code for phone numbers. If you specify a default country code and area code, when you make calls, you only need to dial a country code and area code when the codes differ from the codes that you specified in the smart-dialing options. Depending on your BlackBerry® device model, in the smart-dialing options, you can also specify the main phone number for an organization that you call frequently. If you specify a phone number for an organization, you can call a contact at the organization quickly by dialing the contact’s extension only. Likewise, when you add a contact from the organization to your contact list, you only need to type the contact’s extension.

Set the default country code and area code
1. In the phone application, press the Menu key.
2. Click Options.
3. Click Smart Dialing.
4. Set the Country Code and Area Code fields.
5. In the National Number Length field, set the default length for phone numbers in your country.
6. Press the Menu key.
7. Click Save.

Note: When you calculate the default length for phone numbers, include your area code and local number, but do not include your country code or the National Direct Dialing prefix.

What this means: when I set this up correctly, dapat when I dial the standard number for landlines (555-3452 or whatever) my phone will automatically call landlines (duh) as +63-2-5553452 or whatever. I have done this right on my blackberry, meaning I set country code as +63 (Phils) added area code 2 (metro manila) and then set the standard number as 8 (regular 7 plus one digit of area code 2, see the note above). And yet when I call a certain number, the landline will not be called. It will call some other Globe number (0927-5553452). Why does this happen? Does Globe automatically append its own mobile codes to what I dial so that my phone cannot use smart dialling?

Please do not suggest I just dial 02-5553452 or whatever. I know how this works. I know that to call a landline with a cellphone I have to dial 02 first. For clarification, I save most landline numbers in my phone with a 02. What I am trying to do here is to set up my phone (and its existing feature) so that it does this automatically for me. If you know how to fix this problem, I will appreciate it. However, if you do not know, kindly tell me also. I am aware that this is not a standard problem so it may not be covered by your training, so it is okay if this problem cannot be fixed by Globe people. If you have no solution for this, kindly email me back so that I will stop waiting for an answer. I am just assuming that it is Globe’s problem that’s why I am unable to fix this on my phone and it would be good if it were clarified. It would be a great help if you can help me with this, even if it means forwarding it to someone else. Thank you!
